Under the Settings tab in the desktop app, you can find the tab General.

Here we have some important settings for you to remember:

Receive incoming calls

This setting determines whether you can receive calls to your desktop app - so it should always be enabled if you want to answer calls with your desktop app.

Call method

The call method setting determines how you want to receive your calls to your desktop app. The options available are:

  • Always ask: Means that the application will ask every time how you want to make a call

  • Call direct(using VoIP): Make an outbound call directly from the phone itself, using the SIM-card in the phone. For a Fixed user, this means the call will be made from your private number and SIM-card

  • Call with mobile: If you have a Telavox Mobile license or a mobile extension in use, this setting will allow you to start the call from the desktop app, but the actual call is made through your mobile phone

  • Call with another IP phone: You can call through an external device, e.g. a terminal with this setting

Ringtone and volume

Here you can select a ring tone for all your calls from our standard sound bank, as well as select the volume for the ring tone. You can also select an extra output for your ring tone, under the setting Additional ring tone output.

Use headset controls to answer and hang up call

Check our article regarding headset controls here!‍

Audio device

Here you can set audio input and output - for example if you use a headset with the desktop app. This is the place where you need to then select your headset to both of the input settings, and also adjust the audio volume. Good to remember, is that you can always make a test call in this section to make sure that your audio settings are in order!

Advanced telephony

Here you can create call routings for your incoming and outgoing calls. Check out our guide here‍!

You can also create call widgets, which means that when you have an incoming call, you can automatically search the number from an external number search service. Simply create a new widget, add a title for it, and make sure to fill in the URL as instructed:

Handle video meetings as phone calls

You can choose to handle all the video meetings you get invited to through the desktop app as regular phone calls.
